Local Compliance Officer

Saint Barnabas Health Care System, New Jersey's largest healthcare network and second largest private employer, is seeking a LOCAL COMPLIANCE OFFICER - Long-Term Care (LCO) to manage compliance activities at our Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers, under the direction of the System’s Chief Compliance Officer. The LCO is responsible for achieving facility-specific and system-wide compliance objectives in the areas of compliance education, internal investigations, auditing and monitoring, corrective action and the overall effectiveness of the compliance program at the Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers.

Candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Finance or allied health related field
  • 5 years’ long term care related healthcare experience
  • Experience managing compliance requirements of government and healthcare regulatory agencies
  • Working knowledge of health care compliance, nursing home management and operations, Medicare and Medicaid payor requirements, health care finance
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including proven ability to make effective formal written and verbal presentations
  • Effective project management skills including proven ability to manage large volumes of written materials and electronic data, produce high quality written documentation (e.g. memos and reports) and data analysis (e.g. Excel spreadsheets)
  • Proven ability to function independently and exercise judgment and leadership in accordance with objective legal and regulatory requirements, under complex and demanding circumstances
  • Established demeanor and work habits consistent with professional-firm (e.g. law, accounting or health care consulting) training and background, together with at least 2 years of actual professional firm, health care senior management, or relevant government agency experience

Vice President, Finance

Tyler & Company has been retained by Saint Barnabas Health Care System Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers and Assisted Living, to conduct a national search for the Vice President of Finance in Union, New Jersey.

Saint Barnabas Health Care System is the largest integrated healthcare delivery system in New Jersey and one of the largest in the nation. The Saint Barnabas Health Care System provides treatment and services for more than 225,000 inpatients and same-day surgery patients, 450,000 emergency department patients and more than 1.5 million outpatients each year, and delivers more than 17,500 babies annually.

The Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers and Assisted Living Residencies Division is comprised of eight nursing and rehabilitation centers, and one assisted living facility, located in eight surrounding New Jersey towns. In addition, the Rehabilitation Therapy Company provides services to both internal and external clients. The division extends the continuum of care by offering medically complex and skilled rehabilitation services for those with congestive heart failure, stroke recovery, post-acute LVAD program, amputee recovery, dementia special-care units, hospice and palliative care, respite care and ventilator care.

The position reports directly to Vice President System Corporate Finance/CFO and to the Acting Executive Director of Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Vice President of Finance will serve as the senior operations leader for the finance department and will work closely with the acting executive director of nursing and rehabilitation division, the vice president of the rehabilitation therapy company, and the administrator of each of the nine facilities to ensure the overall financial performance of the division.

The successful candidate will be a Certified Public Accountant with a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Chief Finance Officer, or possess the capability/background of responsibly managing the overall financial aspects of a multi-facility entity, preferably a for-profit venture.

Union, New Jersey has a convenient location to many entertainment and recreational venues. It is only two hours from Atlantic City, less than an hour to the Jersey shore, 20 minutes to the Meadowlands complex, and just one hour to the idyllic Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.

GHRI seeks to inspire the adoption of The Green House model; create a supportive policy and consumer environment, develop tools to support redevelopment of institutions’ physical, operational, and cultural environments; provide direct technical assistance to facilitate the construction, operation, and quality improvement of Green House projects; and implement an on-going, self-sustaining replication center at the end of the grant funding period.

Position Purpose: The Project Guide will assist the GHRI Co-Directors implement all aspects of GHRI.

  1. Create real estate and financial feasibility tools for the development Green House projects (7.5%)
  2. Create operational and staff training tools for the delivery of services within the Green House projects (7.5%)
  3. Create and implement recruitment tools to identify, qualify, and enroll organizations willing to develop and operate Greenhouse Projects (7.5%)
  4. Create and implement quality assurance tools to monitor and improve outcome for residents and staff in Greenhouse Projects (7.5%)
  5. Deliver real estate development and operational technical assistance to GHRI replication projects (approximately 8-12 per Project Guide at any given time). (60%)
  6. Other tasks as assigned (10%)

Bachelors degree Required, Masters preferred
Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
