20 To Watch Profile Of The Day: Christine Reynolds, PT

Last September, Provider launched its newest feature, 20 To Watch, in an effort to spotlight some of the caring, committed, and compassionate up-and-coming leaders in long term and post-acute care.

To accomplish this task, we asked our readers to nominate individuals who exemplify such traits within the profession. Helping us vet the submissions was a panel of judges who represent a crosssection of the profession.

Throughout the next three months, we will illuminate a 20 To Watch honoree, including some information, links, and more about the individual that were not in the print edition.

Christine Reynolds, PT

Jane Barbour describes Christine Reynolds as someone who "exemplifies compassion, intelligence, dedication, and leadership, promoting the growth of her team and the success and motivation of the residents receiving her services."

As a source of stability at Tendercare of Tawas City, Mich., Reynolds is a "valuable and supportive member of our team," says Barbour.

Reynolds, who recently won an award from the facility's parent company, Extendicare, was instrumental in identifying a need for better transitional rehab care, and with her rehab staff created and piloted a program called Transition Week that is designed to facilitate the best possible transition from facility to home for our rehab residents.

The program, which was embraced nationally by ProStep and Extendicare, has been highly regarded by residents who have completed the program.

Reynolds is always enthusiastic to see that the needs of the resident are met and that they succeed and return to home, Barbour notes. "She knows the name of every resident in our building; she takes ownership of the residents and their needs and collaborates with all the disciplines to help ensure quality care."

When nominated for facility rehab coordinator of the year, Reynolds received numerous letters of support testifying to commitment to residents, her team, and her coworkers: "You would think that these residents were her family the way she cares about each and every one of them," “she has the respect and admiration of all the employees and has been a source of stability for the facility team," and "she exemplifies what patient-centered care is about and instills in others the desire to provide the best possible care for the residents we serve,” were just some of the accolades she received.

Barbour is equally generous with her praise of Reynolds: "I cannot think of a more deserving individual than Chris Reynolds PT for 20 to Watch."
