 Four LT/PAC Providers Lauded With Top Quality Care Distinction

Four long term/post-acute care providers have been awarded the 2015 Gold - Excellence in Quality National Quality Award from the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

Representing the best of the best, the award is the acme of three distinct awards possible through AHCA/NCAL’s National Quality Award Program. The program recognizes organizations that meet rigorous standards and serve as models of excellence in providing high-quality long term and post-acute care.

“These providers are among the best in the nation,” said AHCA/NCAL President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Parkinson. “The staff and leadership at these centers have shown outstanding commitment and dedication to the pursuit of quality care. They are leaders in their communities and in our profession, and I congratulate them on achieving this award.”

The 2015 Gold—Excellence in Quality Award recipients are:

  • Skies Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Albuquerque, N.M.
  • Highlands Lake Center, Lakeland, Fla.
  • Effingham County Care Center, Springfield, Ga.
  • Pacific Coast Manor, Capitola, Calif.

Earning this award is no small feat. It requires skilled nursing care centers and assisted living communities to achieve both the Bronze - Commitment to Quality and Silver - Achievement in Quality awards prior to moving to the Gold level—an accomplishment that takes several years.

Applicants adhere to the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, an exacting 25-year-old organization management improvement tool that is used by Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, hospitals, school systems, government agencies, and nonprofits.

“Reaching this level of the program is not easy,” said AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers Chair Christine Boldt. “The time spent getting to this point improves quality outcomes that are expected and evaluated in our profession. That translates to a better quality of life for our staff, residents, and patients.”
