CDC Updates Transmission-Based COVID-19 Precautions, Isolation Duration

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has posted what the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) terms “substantial changes” to the transmission-based precautions, duration of isolation, and return to work criteria.

AHCA/NCAL said as CDC continues to learn more about the coronavirus, it continues to revise prior guidance. AHCA/NCAL offers a summary of these updates at www.longtermcareleader.com/2020/07/cdc-updates-transmission-based.html.

In other COVID-19 developments, the National Healthcare Safety Network has updated the instructions for completing the supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE). Download the updated instructions and read more to find a summary from AHCA/NCAL.

Also, there is a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) call for nursing facilities on July 22. AHCA/NCAL said CMS hosts recurring stakeholder engagement sessions to share information related to the agency’s response to COVID-19. The next call is tomorrow from 4:30-5:00 p.m. (ET).

Finally, providers can download the AHCA/NCAL updated resource to connect with vetted suppliers.
