HHS Offers Tutorials to Learn About Medicaid Allocation Applications

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said it will conduct two Medicaid Allocation Application online tutorials, according to the latest COVID-19 update from the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).

Even though the association called the HHS Provider Relief Fund Medicaid Application Process a positive step, the program has come with a number of questions. For instance, AHCA/NCAL said unlike other COVID-19 relief for providers, the Medicaid Allocation requires an application requiring an array of data.

For interested providers, preregistration is required to take part, and the dates are Tuesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. (ET) and Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m. (ET). Read more.

In other matters, AHCA/NCAL said some providers have begun to receive notices in CASPER rescinding the F884 citation and Civil Monetary Penalty they were given for allegedly not reporting complete information to the National Health Safety Network about COVID-19 in the standardized format and frequency specified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Read More.

Also, AHCA/NCAL recently put together a webinar recording on economic impact payments (EIPs) from the IRS and important facts for skilled nursing facilities, ICFs/IID, and assisted living communities to know on the subject. IRS began issuing electronic EIPs on or about April 15 to people who received a tax refund electronically.  Read More.

Finally, in the past months, CMS has issued numerous national “blanket” waivers to reduce administrative burden, improve access to care, and expedite provider payment in both the Medicare and Medicaid programs.
