Capital Funding Group Launches Meals for Health Care Heroes Program

Baltimore-based Capital Funding Group (CFG) and CFG Bank (CFGB) are reinvesting some of the funds earned from facilitating Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans to provide meals to frontline health care workers at skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in Maryland. Giving back to these frontline employees will allow for three Maryland restaurants to hire back employees furloughed due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Lunch meals will be provided by Rise Biscuits, and dinner will be provided by both Maryland Blackwall Hitch locations and some of the Maryland Greene Turtle locations. Driven Private Transportation will deliver the meals to 53 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in Baltimore and surrounding areas.

Jack Dwyer, sole owner and chairman of the board of CFG/CFGB, said, “It’s important to give back to these heroes at the frontlines. The nurses, administration staff, chefs, and other important employees at these facilities are often overlooked, and they are true heroes every day, but especially in this crisis. We wanted to do something to acknowledge their hard work and thank them for serving our communities during this time.

"Nursing homes/assisted living facilities and their employees have unfortunately received less of a spotlight and more negative news than other health care facilities, though their work and dedication are equally important. We want to change that. We are hopeful that other industries across the country, in particular banks and those who lend to and service the health care sector, will continue to support these everyday heroes in giving back to their communities.” Nursing homes/assisted living facilities and their employees have unfortunately received less of a spotlight and more negative news than other health care facilities, though their work and dedication are equally important. Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger said he is "proud to see this effort to support health care workers on the frontlines—especially at the oft-overlooked long term care facilities—while also giving our local restaurants a much-needed boost. The success of the government’s COVID-19 response hinges on the generosity and ingenuity of our private-sector partners, and I am grateful that business leaders like those at Capital Funding Group are stepping up to the plate here in Baltimore."

Congressman Andy Harris also commented, saying, “As a physician, I’ve seen firsthand the hard work and selfless dedication of nurses, aides, and countless support staff who work in Maryland’s long term care facilities. It’s inspiring to see great Maryland businesses like CFG and The Greene Turtle step up at this difficult time to show our frontline medical providers, our ‘health care heroes,’ how much we appreciate them.”

Mark Parkinson, president and chief executive officer of the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) is also supportive of CFG’s program.

“We want to thank Capital Funding Group and CFG Bank for their generosity and support for long term care staff and residents during this difficult time,” he said. “Our health care heroes are working around the clock to provide physical, psychological, and compassionate care to residents in normal times and now during this stressful situation. Not only are these heroic staff providing one-on-one care, they are filling the void of residents’ families who are not allowed to visit during this quarantine,” he said.

“We need to lean on each other to get through this pandemic, and we appreciate Capital Funding Group and CFG Bank answering our call for people to rally around our long term care providers. Every little bit counts, and we’re very appreciative of this support,” he said.

CFG continues to lend to its health care clients, and CFGB continues to fund PPP loans. The CFG family of companies is dedicated to its clients and customers and will continue to support them through this unprecedented time.
