 AHCA/NCAL Elect New Officers

​The American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) elected new slates of officers at the group’s convention in Las Vegas today.

AHCA members elected Neil Pruitt Jr. of Georgia chair, with Leonard Russ from New York service as vice chair. Secretary/treasurer is Lane Bowen of Kentucky.

Four at-large board members were elected: Tom Coble from Oklahoma, Frank Romano from Massachusetts, Ted LeNeave from Virginia, and Orlando Bisbano from Rhode Island. Gary Kelso from Utah will serve as the Not-for-Profit Representative.

 In addition to those elected this year, the following members will continue to serve on the board:

  • Immediate Past Chair Robert Van Dyk from New Jersey;
  • At-Large Representative Phil Fogg, Jr. from Oregon;
  • At-Large Representative William Council from Tennessee;
  • At-Large Representative Robin Hillier from Ohio; and
  • At-Large Representative Rich Kase from Florida.

AHCA also welcomed three ex-officio board representatives, including: National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) Chair Mike Shepard from Arkansas; Affiliated State Health Care Association Executives (ASHCAE) Representative Steve Ackerson from Iowa; and Associate Business Member (ABM) Representative Shawn Scott of Medline Industries.

NCAL elected Michael Shepard of Arkansas as chair; Patricia Giorgio of Iowa, vice chair; and Christian Mason of Oregon was voted in as secretary/treasurer. NCAL’s Immediate Past Chair, Nicolette Merino, regional director of operations, Avamere Health Systems, Wilsonville, Ore. will serve on NCAL’s Executive Committee with NCAL’s executive officers.

The new at-large board members are:

  • Ashley Blankenship, administrator of Southridge Village Retirement Center, Conway, Ark.;
  • Marcia Hamilton-Dooner, CEO of Parkinson’s Specialty Care, Minneapolis, Minn.;
  • Deborah Lowe-Meade Health Management, Warner Robins, Ga.;
  • Laurie Shepard, Ingham Regional Assisted Living, Michigan
  • Dee Thieme, Harmony Living Centers, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and
  • Brett Waters, New Beginnings Community Living Home, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and 
  • Roderick (Rod) Wolfe, Richland Place Senior Living, Portland, Tenn.

These newly elected individuals join board members, whose terms will expire in October 2012: Deb Choma of Vermont; Vickie Cox of Delaware; Helen Crunk of Nebraska; Jeffrey Hyatt of Washingon; Jan Thayer of Nebraska; and Kristin West of Ohio.
