 ProviderNation Blog: Choosing Wisely

In the latest ProviderNation blog post, ProviderNation2-02.jpg Senior Editor Bill Myers finds that AMDA—Dedicated to Long Term Care Medicine has some thoughts on improving quality. The group is teaming up with the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation on its Choosing Wisely campaign to urge docs, patients, and “other health care stakeholders” to rethink tests and “procedures” that AMDA says “may be unnecessary or even cause harm.”
 
Also in today's post, a study that finds a link between the "hygiene hypothesis"--the idea that lack of exposure to germs, viruses, and parasites harms the immune system--to rising rates of Alzheimer's in richer nations.
