While I am proud of every issue of Provider, the fall issue might be my favorite each year. Why? It’s the issue that celebrates AHCA/NCAL’s community of long term care professionals. In addition to previewing Delivering Solutions 24, the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, this issue shines a light on those who go above and beyond in our industry.

Take a look at the AHCA/NCAL Quality Award recipients on page 43 and the 2024 award winners on page 35. I can’t help but be inspired by the dedication and excellence this industry shows year in and year out.

This issue also explores the issue of vaccine uptake. Long term care providers have to establish trust and communication to ensure they can vaccinate residents ahead of the respiratory virus season. Despite fatigue around COVID-19 vaccines, it is important to encourage residents and staff to get their updated shots this fall to prevent severe illness from COVID, flu, and RSV.

Providers operating rural facilities have been facing challenges regarding staffing shortages and specialty services that may threaten their continued operation. Rural facilities tend to be a cornerstone in the community, and a closure can affect more than just residents and their families.

Business operations are an integral part of the long term care community. These billing, purchasing, and accounting professionals work behind the scenes to keep the facilities running. Developments in technology, purchasing, and staffing can support these important functions.

The Fall 2024 issue gives a look into the upcoming NCAL Day, highlights LaShuan Bethea and her work with NCAL, profiles a Quality Award recipient, and introduces you to a talking flowerpot. Don’t believe me? Check out page 73.

I can’t wait to see you at Delivering Solutions 24, October 6-9 in Orlando, Fla. Be sure to visit the Provider booth in the expo hall.
