Clif PorterThe American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) has formally announced the appointment of Clifton J. Porter, II as the new president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Porter will replace AHCA/NCAL’s current president and CEO, Mark Parkinson, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Porter currently serves as senior vice president of government relations for AHCA/NCAL, leading the organization’s legislative agenda and advocacy efforts.

Porter has been serving the needs of seniors in the long term care field for 35 years, beginning as a nursing home volunteer and then starting his career in long term care as an administrator in training at a skilled nursing facility. He went on to serve as an administrator of several skilled nursing centers, capping his operational experience as a regional director of operations for a large urban market. He has also served on various state health care association boards.

Dana RitchieThe Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, S.D., is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit providers of senior care and services. Three new members have been elected to its board of directors: Ryan Austad, Dr. Jean Bokinskie, and Dana Ritchie, an experienced Capitol Hill advocate serving as the associate vice president of constituency services and workforce for AHCA/NCAL.

“It’s a true honor to support this fantastic organization in a new way and grow to be an even better advocate for the residents, families, and caregivers supported by senior care providers,” Ritchie said.

Wasam Moustafa, MDBelmont Bay Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Woodbridge, Va., has appointed Wesam Moustafa, MD, as its medical director. Moustafa is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease.

“I am pleased to join the talented team here as we work to provide for the best possible outcomes for all those entrusted in our care,” said Moustafa.

Oakland Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Oakland, N.J., has added Saraswati Dayal, MD, FACS, wound care specialist, to its clinical team. Dayal, who is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, possesses an extensive background in wound care.

Texas State Representative Travis Clardy has joined the Texas Health Care Association (THCA) as the new president and CEO. Clardy brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this role, and the THCA is confident in his ability to lead the organization to new heights.

Merrill Gardens is pleased to announce the addition of Melanie Werdel and Madisen Medley to the senior leadership team.

Werdel, vice president of risk management for Merrill Senior Living and sister company Pillar Properties, has more than 30 years of experience in senior living. Medley has taken on the role of vice president of business development where she is focused on Merrill Gardens continued portfolio growth. She brings extensive operational, financial, and legal experience in senior living to her new role.

David EricksonCovenant Living Communities and Services, a nonprofit, faith-based senior living organization headquartered in Skokie, Ill., appointed David Erickson president and CEO. Erickson comes to this role following the retirement of Terri Cunliffe, who had been in the position since 2015.

Silver Birch Living announced the addition of Matthew South as chief financial officer (CFO).

With over 20 years of experience in corporate finance, business development, and investment banking, South brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Before joining Silver Birch Living, he was the head of financial planning at Care Hospice. He has also held various financial roles in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. As CFO, South will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Silver Birch Living and developing strategic initiatives to support the company’s growth and expansion plans.
